As the “First Irish Festival 2009” goes into its final couple of weeks, it becomes clear how much of the venture’s considerable success is due to certain excellent performances, such as the work that Mark Anthony Noonan is doing as poet Francis Ledwidge in Dermot Bolger’s “Walking the Road,” the crafty performance Sean Gormley is giving in John Keating’s fine revival of Conor McPherson’s classic monodrama, “The Good Thief,” and the stunning performance being given by Peter Bradbury in Derek Murphy’s “A Short Wake.”
