“I was looking for songs from a human point of view, songs dealing with the emotional side of being an immigrant,” Casey said from the home she shares in Glenville, Co. Cork, with partner, Niall Vallely, and their 3-year-old daughter, Muireann. “I’m a bit ashamed of the way immigrants are now being treated in Ireland, and I find it ironic that Ireland ships people off with the best hopes and yet has trouble embracing new people here.”
