“Style: Stories of Irish Dance” makes it American debut next week, with one-night-only performances in Boston on Oct. 25, and in New York on Oct. 30. All proceeds from the two gala premieres benefit Boys Hope/Girls Hope and the Beaumont Hospital Foundation in Dublin.
The show traces the history of Irish dance back to mythological times. The show was conceived, written and directed by Fran O’Donnell, and features original music composed by Denis Carey. “Style” has been a hit in Ireland, where it is in its third successful year at the Bunratty Folk Park.
The show will bow next Wednesday at NYC’s Town Hall, 123 West 43rd St., at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the performance, followed by a reception and gala dinner at Rosie O’Grady’s, are $250. Tickets to the performance alone are $75. Remember, all the money goes to some worthy causes (and if last year was anything to go by, it’s going to be a really fun night), so loosen the purse strings and make sure you’re there. You can call Orla O’Malley or Joe Power at (212) 689-3361 for more information and to reserve your seats. They are also available via e-mail at Beaumont172@msn.com.
We’ve got five pairs of tickets for both the dinner and performance to give away to the some lucky readers. Just visit our website, www.irishecho.com, and enter online, or e-mail your name, address and daytime telephone number to us at contest@irishecho.com. Subject line must include your last name, first initial and the word “style.” Deadline for all entries is Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m. Winners will be notified by phone, so make sure you include a valid daytime number. Got it? Good! See you there.
