Two armed robbers hit a Bronx Irish bar early Tuesday morning, holding up the bartender at gunpoint as she closed up after her shift.

Police said the robbers made off with an undetermined amount of cash after rifling through the cash register at the Ireland’s Own bar at 6661 Broadway in the Bronx.

The bartender was alone in the bar at around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday when one of the suspects asked her whether the bar was open for business, police said.

As she spoke with him, the suspect produced a black handgun and told her to open the register as another suspect entered the bar.

"Two unidentified male blacks entered the premises. One of the suspects displayed a handgun and took an undetermined amount of cash from the register," Officer George Jensen, a police spokesman, said.

The thieves locked the 42-year-old bartender in the bathroom and then fled the scene, Jensen said. She was not injured during the robbery. No arrests were made and the investigation is ongoing.
