Around Ireland: DONEGAL: GARDA PROBIE LAUDED

The Western People reports that Probationer Garda Alison Clancy from The Neale, Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo, bravely dived off the end of a pier after witnessing a woman plunge into the sea.
The young garda will celebrate her passing-out ceremony at Templemore Garda Training College next February.
The incident happened shortly after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, aug. 3, when gardai in Buncrana received reports that a woman “in some distress” was walking on the pier.
Clancy responded to the reports and kept an eye on the 20-year-old before being spurred into action as the woman dropped off the pier’s end.
