Bloomsday at Symphony Space

The 19th annual celebration of Joyce’s "Ulysses" will be presented at Symphony Space on Friday, June 16, from 7 p.m. until midnight. This year’s event explores Irish poetry from the ninth century to today’s emerging bards, in addition to a generous sampling of "Ulysses." Included in the works that will be read are selections by William Butler Yeats and John Millington Synge, and contemporary Irish poets including Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney, Paul Muldoon, Eamonn Grennan and Imelda O’Reilly. "Poet Pass By!"

The W.B. Yeats Society of New York will hold its annual "Poet Pass By!" a stage show stretching the limits of literary interpretation, with readings, music, video and film clips, on Monday, June 19, at 7:30 p.m. at the Frederick Lowe Theater, 45 West 4th St., NYC. The program features actress Celeste Holm reading Yeats. NYU president L. The Irish Arts Center presents J.P. Donleavy’s "The Ginger Man," a stage adaptation from his internationally celebrated and highly acclaimed novels, performed by The Dublin Theater Company. "God Willing"

"God Willing," a new Irish drama, written and directed by David McLaughlin, will be presented at the Pantheon Theater through June 25. "Faz In Ate"

D’dalus Theatre Co. will present the premiere of Faz In Ate, a new play, written and directed by Irish playwright, Imelda O’Reilly, in which Polly dreams herself and her brother out of despair by creating an imaginary world, Faze in Ate, inhabitated by Mr. Zing, who speaks the invented language of Zing-talk. "A Million Bricks"

"A Million Bricks," a documentary by Frank Martin and Seamus Kelters, will be shown June 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Irish Arts Center, 553 West 51 St., NYC. The documentary is about the last mixed street in West Belfast — where once stood a row of houses shared by Protestants and Catholics now stands Belfast’s biggest peace line, a wall of a million bricks. Fairfield Festival

The annual Fairfield County Irish Festival will be held June 16-18 at Roger Ludlowe Field, Fairfield, Conn. Entertainment will include Eileen Ivers, John Whalen, Aoife Clancy, Patty Furlong Ceili Band, Celtic Justice, The Mollys, Music in the Glen, Gaelic Storm and The Prodigals. There will be supervised children’s activities. Connecticut State Hurlers will play New Jersey in a New York championship game on Sunday afternoon, June 18. Belmont Festival

Gaelic Roots Festival

The Boston College campus will host the Celtic Roots Festival, sponsored by the Irish Studies Program, from June 18-24. The highlights of the week will include classroom instruction with the best Celtic traditional musicians, singers and dance teachers; daily recitals featuring Gaelic Roots faculty. On Thursday and Saturday evening, concerts will be held at the College’s Robsham Theater featuring world-class master musicians, singers and dancers. Other highlights include a music and dance cruise on Boston Harbor, Irish language classes, Irish, Cape Breton & Scottish music sessions, ceili dances, lectures, and Boston Police Gaelic Column Pipe & Drum Tattoo. In Gaelic Park

At the Heritage Center

Bloomsday at Rosenbach Museum

On Friday, June 16, from noon until 6 p.m., Philadelphians will read selections of "Ulysses" from the steps of the Rosenbach Museum, 2010 DeLancey Pl., Philadelphia.
