By Staff Reporter

Walter O’Hara Jr. believes that his good fortune in life stems from the fact that he has always considered himself to be a very lucky person. Born in the Bronx to wonderful parents who led and and directed him by example, O’Hara grew up in the Fordham section of the borough in the 1940s and 50s. It was a time when the United States was emerging from the shadow of World War II, and young Walter knew many of the boys who had gone off to war and returned as seasoned, displaced young men. The neighborhood was a reflection of the country at large.
O’Hara attended All Hallows High School, where he received an excellent education by the Irish Christian Brothers, and Fordham University, where the Jesuits instilled a passion for excellence in life, and in education. O’Hara spent his professional career at the firm of Allen & Company, where he worked alongside three generations of the Allen family. He is proud of the company, where excellence, integrity and meritocracy were the cornerstones of the corporate culture.
