DUBLIN – Hundreds of workers in Boston stand to gain from a surprise _2 million windfall from the Campbell Bewley Group under a share give-away planned by the Campbell family.

The family has announced a plan to give away 60,000 shares -equivalent to 5 percent of the current share capital in the private company – in the offer that will reduce the family stake in the group to 62 percent.

The idea came from New York resident Siofra Campbell, 28, one of five children of Patrick and Veronica Campbell, who founded the company in 1967.

“It was she who lit the spark and has made this gesture possible,” said Patrick who is chairman of the group.

Siofra writes and directs films. All the family, including the four other children, will be contributing to the gift scheme.
