Boston game scrapped

February 16, 2011

By Staff Reporter

The Irish soccer club St Patrick’s Athletic has abandoned its ambitious plans to play its Eircom League game against Shelbourne in Boston on St Patrick’s Day.

It was a novel idea from the Saints Managing Director Pat Dolan to

bring a domestic Irish game to the United States. The plan had to be abandoned for what were called "organization difficulties.”

However, it’s hoped that an Eircom League game will be played in the United States sometime next season.
