There will be an exhibition of amateur boxing on Wednesday, March 10, at 7 p.m. at Gaelic Park, 6119 West 147th St., Oak Forest, Ill. Admission tickets are $10.
The exhibition will include representatives from the Chicago Park District Boxing Program hosting the County Derry Board Boxing Team. The Irish boxers will be participating in a number of exhibitions, including Merrimac Park, at 6343 West Irving Park Rd., on Friday, March 12, and the Irish American Heritage Center, at 4626 North Knox, Chicago, on Tuesday, March 16.
During the Irish boxing team’s visit to Chicago, they will also participate in both St. Patrick’s Day parades, Ireland on Parade at Gaelic Park, and attend a Chicago Wolves hockey game. The Irish boxers range in age from 12 to 17 and are first-time visitors to the United States.
