The following players have been named by manager Frank Brady for New York’s upcoming assault on the 2000 Connacht Championships, where New York will meet Galway in the first round. It should be noted that this is a preliminary group of players, and there will likely be changes to the squad as the game draws near.

The players are:

John Meehan (Leitrim), Jim Donaghue (Leitrim), Kevin Lilly (Longford), Enda Henry (Sligo), Hughie O’Sullivan (Monaghan), Richie Purcell (Stamford), Brian McCabe (Westmeath), Michael Slowey, Martin Slowey, John Cormican, Danny Barr, Gary McConnell (all Tyrone).

Also, Paul Gallivan, Bingo Driscoll, John Driscoll, Paddy O’Connor, Willie O’Donnell (all Kerry), Eunan Docherty, Owen Cummins, Stephen Cassidy, Keith Murray, Kieran Keaveney, Gary Dowd (all Donegal), Danny Leavy (Offaly).

Among the notable absentees are Cork’s Pat Mahoney and Donegal’s Donal Breslin (both injured), and Neville Dunne (Leitrim) and Sean Teague (Tyrone), neither of whom will be playing in New York next year due to other commitments.

Brady has insisted that the panel is open-ended right now, and there is room for others players to stake a claim in the squad.

A training session will be held tonight at 7 at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
