The annual Gaelic football game between the New York City Police Department and Fire Department Gaelic Football teams has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 20, at Gaelic Park in the Bronx.

The football will be thrown into play at 5 p.m. A full schedule of entertainment and festivities has also been planned. The players on both teams are members of their respective Emerald Societies.

Also scheduled to appear are the Men of the Pipes and Drums from both the Police and Fire Emerald Society Bagpipe Bands.

Dan Kiely, head coach for the Constables on Patrol (Cops) reported that the game, originally scheduled for May 9 was postponed due to the 12 days of rain in the tri-state area.

“Park officials were afraid of the amount of damage that would be done to the playing field, but, more important, both teams agreed that to play under these adverse conditions might result in players sustaining severe injuries. It just wasn’t worth it,” he said.
