Bronx Soccer Harps vs. Lansdowne in women’s final

In the first of the winter league semi-finals, Lansdowne prevailed in the second half to win.

After 30 seconds, Sheri Lawson took the ball from the halfway line, going solo. When she reached the bar she took her shot to make it 1-0 to Parlour Moms.

Lansdowne, taken by surprise, went forward with a ball from Megan Flynn to Bernie Boyle who passed to Fiona Ward. She took her shot and it sailed inches over the bar.

On 15 minutes, Lansdowne, still pressing forward, won a sideline ball taken by Ann Maire McGrail. Stephanie Bliss turned and shot but it was stopped by Robyn Mirzwa.

The Parlour Moms kept attacking. A cross by Mara Kaplan reached the head of Karen Rice who headed inches wide.

On 25 minutes, a cross by Lansdowne’s Fiona Ward reached Julie Enright who turned and shot, half time score 1-1.

The second half started like the start of the first half. Bernie Boyle received the ball on the wing, crossed it to Christine Manny who received the ball and shot 2-1 to Lansdowne.

On 55 minutes, the Parlour Moms Lisa Burke received the ball and ran down the wing, crossed to Melissa Stevens who took the shot and ball went inches over the bar.

Lansdowne held on to win 2-1.

Best for Lansdowne: Bernie Boyle, Megan Flynn Julie Enright.

Best for Parlour Moms: Lisa Burke, Mara Kaplan, Sheri Lawson.

The finals will be played Dec. 2, Harps vs. Lansdowne.

Harps on top

Harps came out on top of a hard fought game.

At halftime the score in this game was 0-0.

On 55 minutes, Alyson Kaye crossed the ball past the Beal Bocht defenders and Marybeth Gazlay scored, 1-0 to Harps. Beal Bocht played everything to get it back but could not.

Final score, 1-0 to Harps.
