Bronx Women Harps hold on to beat Lansdowne

On 25 minutes, Lansdowne went forward from a throw-in by Ellen McGrail to the Harps’ defense. There was a scramble in the goal line and Christine Manning got her foot to it, making it 1-0 to Lansdowne. Later, a cross from the Harps’ Katie McNeil went to Sandra Swinburne, who passed to Mary Beth. She scored, making it a half time score of Lansdowne 1, Harps 1.

On 55 minutes in the second half, with the Harps going forward, Karen Shalvey shot a cross into the Lansdowne defense. There was a scramble for the ball and Alison Kaye got her foot to it, making it 2-1 to Harps. It was tight until the end with Harps holding out for victory.

Parlour Moms, 1 Velocity 0

On 50 minutes in the second half, Karen Lindsay shot a pass to Melanie Schmit, who turned and scored, making it 1-0 to Parlour Moms. Velocity went forward and on 65 minutes there came a through ball to Julia Stiles, whose shot was well saved by Carol Skiriloff for a corner. Parlour Moms held out for the last five minutes for the victory.

Béal Bocht 3, Fagans 0

Beaten Cup finalist Béal Bocht wanted to get back on winning ways.

On 30 minutes, Pauline Boylan gathered the ball on the left wing and lobbed it in over the Fagan’s goalie, making it 1-0 to Béal Bocht.

The second half started with Béal Bocht attacking. On 55 minutes, a ball was passed to Mary McEvoy, who turned and scored, making it 2-0.

In the 65th minute, Sophia Harvey scored, making a final score of 3-0 to Béal Bocht.

Best for Béal Bocht, Pauline Boylan, Mary McEvoy, Sophia Harvey. Best for Fagans, Michelle Doherty, Monica Selvia, Dervil Carey.

J.J. Gilligans 1, Fionas 0

On 55 minutes, Gilligans won a corner. It was taken by Maudy Lynn and the cross was headed by Catherine Donohue who scored. The tight Gilligan’s defense held on for victory.
