Bronx Women’s Soccer Harvey’s lifts Velocity

Sophia Harvey’s second-half hat trick did the job for Beal Bocht. On 45 minutes, Harvey finished a nice Beal Bocht move, shooting into the net to make it 1-0. Just five minutes later, a well-positioned Harvey gathered a ball in the box from Mary Beth Higgins and made no mistake.

Velocity responded mnutes later when Julia Stiles soared to convert Laura Rizzo’s corner kick and made it interesting when a Cynthia Silva free kick went just over the bar.

Harvey made it official with her third goal of the game in the last minute of play.

Best for Beal Bocht: Sophia Harvey, Mary Beth Higgins, Mary Touhy.

Best for Velocity: Moira Vlahas, Laura Rizzo, Julia Stiles.

Harps 3, Fagan’s 0

Two own goals helped Harps to a 3-0 win. On five minutes, a shot by Jane Riviello seemed to be going wide, when the Fagan’s keeper shot and put the ball into the net. On 23 minutes, with Harps going forward, a shot went off the head of Maree Maloney for the second own goal.

On 30 minutes, Karen Shalvey passed to Lisa Burke, who took a great shot to score, making it 3-0 Harps at the break.

Though the second half was scoreless, Mary Beth Gazley and Lisa Burke went close for Harps. Justine Clifford and Fiona Fallon went close for Fagans.

Best for Harps: Karen Shalvey, Lisa Burke, Jane Riviello.

Best for Fagans: Caroline Conway, Petrona Ariola, Fiona Fallon.

Parlour Moms 7, Granuailes 0

Granuailes held Parlour Moms scorless until late in the first half, but then the floodgates opened. Moms got their first goal via Mara Kaplan. Then, after 33 minutes, a move by Joan Madden to Karen Rice resulted in a goal and a 2-0 halftime lead.

Best for Parlour Moms: Karen Rice, Joan Schultz, Joan Madden.

Best for Granuailes: Caroline Sullivan, Kim Moriarty, Danielle Donovan.

Lansdowne 0, Ned Devine’s 0

Stephanie Bliss, Bernie Boyle went close for Lansdowne in the first half, but Ned Devine’s, playing their first game, held their place. Cira Ferry and Michelle Simon went close for Ned Devine’s.

In the second half, on 45 minutes, Lansdowne’s Ann Marie Flynn passed to Bernie Boyle, whose shot went inches wide. Then, a ball from Ned Devine’s Mags Ryan to Ann Ryan, resulted in a shot that was well saved by Ann Marie McGrail.

Best for Lansdowne: Bernie Boyle, Megan Flynn, Anne Marie McGrail.

Best for Ned Devine’s: Etna McGovern, Margaret Fitzsimon, Cira Ferry.
