A prominent Nassau County businessman and Republican Party official has been found safe and sound after he went missing for 48 hours — and has alleged that he was kidnapped.
Bobby Kumar, an immigrant from India, has links to the area’s Irish community through his Irish-born wife, Roisin Meegan.
Kumar, 44, was found on Tuesday, July 10, evening, in a Nassau County park. He had last been seen by witnesses on Sunday around 9 p.m. at the Nostalgia Diner, where he had dined with a friend.
Police sources say that Kumar has alleged that three men detained him and held him hostage for the time he was missing, but that they gave no motive or made any demands while he was captive.
Kumar married his wife in 1987 and they live with their five children in Syosset. They published a resource called "Ireland Today: A Comprehensive Reference Book" some years ago.

Speaking to reporters, Second Squad Det. Lt. Steven Skrynecki said: "The motive is vague. No specific demands were made of Kumar while he was in custody. We’re certainly moving forward based on the story Kumar told us."
