Irishman Mark Carroll has joined the elite "Manchester Road race Irish Connection" group of John Treacy, Eamonn Coghlan, and John Doherty (all past winners) by winning the 62nd Manchester, Conn., road race on Thanksgiving Day.

Carroll ran with a lead pack of 12 for the first 2.5 miles, passing the one mile mark in 4:36 and two miles in 9:45. He made his decisive move at 3.5 miles and crossed the finish of the 4.7-mile race in 21:49. Boston’s Brian Baker was next in 22:02, holding off a late challenge by Kenyan Paul Mwangi.
