DUBLIN — Tony Cascarino and Steve Staunton celebrated their joint testimonial game Sunday at Lansdowne Road, where a Republic of Ireland selection beat Liverpool 4-2. Appropriately, Cascarino who came on as a substitute for the last half hour, scored twice, while Robbie Keane and newcomer Dominic Foley also got on the mark.
Just over 35,000 spectators turned up for what was a truly competitive. Liverpool’s goals were supplied by Emile Heskey and Michael Owen.
"Those two goals capped it nicely, but I’ll miss coming to Dublin to play for Ireland," said Cascarino, who at 38 has signed for Red Star Paris in France.
