Workshops with such master Irish traditional musicians as Beginish flutist Paul McGrattan, button accordionist Billy McComiskey, singers Karan Casey and R=isfn White, uilleann piper Kieran O’Hare, fiddler Tony DeMarco, tin whistle player Mary Bergin, harper Antoinette McKenna, guitarist Zan McLeod, and concertinist Niall Vallely will be the cornerstone of the eighth annual Catskills Irish Arts Week from July 14-19.
This year’s artistic director is Ged Foley, a member of Patrick Street and a former member of both the House Band and the Battlefield Band.
Classes will be held from 10 a.m. to noon and from 2-4 p.m. Monday through Friday throughout East Durham, N.Y., and will include cTilf and set dancing instruction from Brendan and Glenda Brown, Frank and Denise Holt, and Patrick O’Dea.
On Saturday, July 20, beginning at 11 o’clock in the morning, the Catskills Irish Arts Week will conclude with a festival featuring many of the instructors.
