Ciar_n was just 27 when he was taken from this life but he managed to cram so much into his remarkable life. It is always difficult to come to terms with the death of a young person, but Ciar_n’s mother, family and friends can be proud of all he achieved. I’m not saying that it will make it any easier, but Ciar_n played such an important part in Irish culture that we can only learn from his legacy and continue it for ourselves.
Ciar_n and I were in the same Masters class in U.C.D. He was a very kind person: amusing, honest, quiet, intelligent. He was well ahead of the game in every aspect of his life. He became a lecturer in U.C.D in his 30s, and was pursuing his doctorate. I wasn’t at all surprised when I heard he’d won Corn U
