CIE Tours steering through tough times

But the president and chief executive officer of New Jersey-based CIE Tours International also knows that even with a fine product, market forces – especially in the kind of market that is currently dragging so many national economic downwards – can put paid to the best laid plans and strategies.
Nevertheless, Stack is betting on customers not quitting on quality and he predicted a profitable year ahead for his company at the recent launch in New York of the CIE Tours International brochure for 2010.
Stack has presided over a couple of decades of profitability at the company, and, given that time span, is no stranger to difficult economic times on both sides of the Atlantic.
The company, though Irish, now sends U.S. customers on a variety of tours, accompanied and unaccompanied, to Ireland, Britain, Italy and, most lately, to cruises on some of Europe’s most famous rivers.
With the year waning, CIE is moving to improve prospects for 2010 with various vacation discount plans, one of them expiring at the end of this month that promises a $200 saving per customer, twice that for a couple.
