Clancy Brothers return to the Boston area

February 16, 2011

By Staff Reporter

The Clancy Brothers are continuing their ’98 tour schedule with three appearances in the Boston area. McGann’s Pubs will host the band in Boston on Sunday, July 19, and in Falmouth on Tuesday, July 21. They will also be appearing in the afternoon of Sunday, July 19, at the recently rescheduled Irish Festival at Stonehill College in Easton.

Since March, the Clancy’s have appeared in theaters and concert venues in more than 25 cities in the Eastern U.S. They have had more than 50 releases of their recordings and many have been repackaged and released as CD’s.

Recently, Bobby Clancy released a new CD, “The Quiet Land,” on Ark Albums, distributed by Rego Records. “The Quiet Land” encompasses the traditional Clancy sound while featuring Bobby’s personal style. His recitations of Yeats’s “Host to the Air,” backed by uilleann piper Pat Hutchinson, is at once haunting, pleasing and disturbing.

The last two years the Clancy’s have been appearing with Bobby’s son Finbarr Clancy, and singer-songwriter Eddie Dillon.

Tickets at McGann’s are $20. Call Boston at (617) 227-4059 or Falmouth at (508) 540-6656.
