Clooney’s (un)coverage

February 16, 2011

By Staff Reporter

The film’s director, Steven Soderbergh, has been fighting with the Motion Picture Association of America over — well, to put it bluntly — George’s naked bum. Bottom line: the director considers the film’s two flashes of Clooney’s, er, hiney benign and integral to the plot, while the MPAA considers them salacious and worthy of an R rating.
In the end, after a verbal spanking from the “sex, lies and videotape” director, the film board relented and gave the movie the more lucrative PG-13 rating. Which means that George has a shot at filling the void left by aging bum-baring heartthrob Mel Gibson, whose unfettered rear view was the real reason those “Lethal Weapon” movies could be considered chick flicks.
