Colin recalls his personal haze

February 16, 2011

In an interview with Radio Times magazine, the actor recalled (as best he could) the days before he became a big Hollywood star.
“I was going only one way — down,” he said. “I was self-destructive.”
Colin went to see a psychiatrist, who quickly surmised that the young man’s problems were chemical in nature. He instructed Colin to make a list of what drugs he ingested during a typical week, and was jolted by the answer: 20 Ecstasy tablets, four grams of cocaine, six grams of speed, half an ounce of hashish, three bottles of Jack Daniels, 12 bottles of red win, and 60 pints.
“And 40 fags a day,” he added. “[The doctor] looked at me and said, ‘Do you wonder you’re depressed?’ “
Forget depressed — we want to know how the middle-class teenager supported such an expensive habit. Especially in a city where a 10p rise in the price of a pint practically induces rioting in the streets. But we suppose he’s saving that juicy story for his memoirs.
In more uplifting Colin news, we hear that the actor has added singing to his list of accomplishments. He recorded a cover of the Clash classic “I Fought the Law,” which can be heard on the soundtrack of his new film, “Intermission.” This will put him in the proper humor for his upcoming film bio, in which he’ll play the Prince of ^%$#&* Darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne.
