There were also four rebounds and two assists. What the box doesn’t scream is that Westbrooks stole the ball with 1:03 left on the game clock and Ursinus up by a point.
Twenty seconds later, Trinity’s Patrick Martin dropped in a layup to give the Bantams the lead. Westbrooks then reeled in a missed Ursinus layup, prior to being fouled with 18 ticks left to toll. He sank both tosses, and then took down another carom off the defensive glass to salt the victory for the 8-2 Bantams. Westbrooks, who has started all 10 games for Trinity, is averaging 4.9 points per contest.
Paul Cummins connected on four of seven 3-pointers to help Lafayette (6-6) defeat Mt. St. Mary’s, 76-63. The Dublin sophomore scored 12 points for the third time this season and carries a 6.3 points per game average.
Chris Butler led all scorers with 23 points as St. Thomas Aquinas dusted off East-West University, 114-71. The Ballymena senior was plagued by foul trouble in STAC’s subsequent game, a 75-60 win over Concordia (Neb.). Despite only 17 minutes on the floor, Butler dropped in 10 points as the Spartans improved to 6-5. He is second on the team with a 12.0 points-per-game average.
Niamh Dwyer was the game’s high scorer with 18 points as Monmouth’s women’s team dropped a 67-57 verdict to Rider. The senior from Thurles, Co. Tipperary scored her 1,000th career point in the contest. Despite the prolific output, her shooting eye wasn’t focused at 20/20 as she shot 6-for-15 from the floor, including 1-for-6 from downtown. She converted five of nine free throws. The Hawks fell to 3-7 with the loss.

SWIMMING
Kentucky defeated both Clemson, 125-118, and Indian River Community College, 165-78, in a tri-meet as Dublin senior Steven Manley contributed to three victories. Manley was victorious in the freestyle at 200 and 500 yards, with winning times of 1:39.19 and 4:33.80, respectively. He also anchored the Wildcats’ winning freestyle relay team at 200 yards, and he took second place in the 100-yard freestyle, nipped by teammate Daniel Farnham, 45.41 to 45.81. Dublin junior Mark Doyle swam the second leg for the 200 freestyle relay win, and he placed fifth in freestyles at 50 yards (21.81) and 100 yards (47.23).
