Susan Moran poured 29 points through the net as St. Joseph’s of Philadelphia defeated St. John’s, 70-56, in women’s basketball recently. The point total represented a career best for Moran, a sophomore out of Tullamore, Co. Offaly. She clicked on 10 of 17 shots from the field and converted nine free throws from 12 attempts. She also had 10 rebounds. The Hawks improve to 3-1 with the win.

Robert Morris had an easy time with Carnegie Mellon, leaving the court as 96-41 victors. Niall Phelan recorded eight points on 3-for-6 shooting from the floor and two successful foul shots. Phelan, a senior from Dublin, also brought down two caroms and dished out two assists. Morris is now 2-2.

Soccer

There was nothing charming about the third time facing Indiana, where Penn State was concerned. The Nittany Lions fell to the Hoosiers for the third time this season, 3-0, in an NCAA Division I quarterfinal match. Indiana didn’t score its first goal until the 48th minute, and added to it almost 20 minutes later. Penn State’s Belfast-born coach Barry Gorman can only sigh and wait until next year.
