DUBLIN — Cork Constitution kept their unbeaten record to stay top of the All Ireland Rugby League when they defeated Buccaneers 34-11 at Temple Hill at the weekend. Wing Anthony Horgan was in outstanding form as Constitution swept to a third successive victory. Horgan scored a spectacular solo try, while Craig Taylor added two more tries to the winners’ total.

Ballymena stay level with their Cork rivals at the top following a convincing 34-3 victory over Belfast Harlequins. However, the success story of the season so far comes from Galway, where unfashionable Galwegians also made it three victories from three thanks to a 27-8 result over DLSP.

Promoted from Div. II last year, Galwegians now only trail the leading two by virtue of not scoring any bonus points, but with Eric Elwood and teenage full-back Gavin Duffy in good form, they have made an impressive start to this campaign.

Lansdowne edged out Young Munster 21-15 to go into fourth place, while Terenure, Shannon and Clontarf are all in joint fifth.
