Cusack hits the ‘Bar’

February 16, 2011

By Staff Reporter

The actor is hoping to adapt Pete McCarthy’s bestselling book, “McCarthy’s Bar.”
The author of the book spent months in Ireland, exploring his heritage and dropping in to every bar he could find that had his surname over the door. Cusack would like to play McCarthy — but it all depends on whether the man himself approves.
“My agent got a call from one of the studios asking if the rights to the book were still available,” McCarthy said.
The author’s answer: “Yes, but it depends.”
Note to Pete: rent our favorite J.C. movie, “Say Anything.” Trust us — you won’t be able to resist.
