Other Meteor honorees included the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who won the Best Live Performance statue for their concert at Slane last summer. Boy banders Westlife were named Best Pop Act, The Frames snagged Best Irish Band, and The (anything but cheap) Thrills grabbed Best Irish Album for their debut, ?So Much for the City.? Cara Dillon won ?Best Irish Female,? and Paddy Casey walked away with Best Irish Male.
The Dubliners were presented with the Meteor Lifetime Achievement Award for their contribution to Irish folk music and decorative facial hair. On hand to accept were Sean Cannon, Eamonn Campbell, Ronnie Drew, Jim McCann, John Sheahan and Barney McKenna.

After what seems like a lengthy hiatus (to their loyal fans, at least) Ireland?s favorite singing siblings, The Corrs, are ready to reclaim their place at the top of the world?s record charts. The band debuted the first single from their upcoming album, a song called ?Summer Sunshine,? at the Meteor Ireland Music Awards. The CD will be released in Europe on May 24. Watch this space for the date of the American release, tour details, and — for loyal Corrs fans like Mike Wright of Brooklyn — whatever fascinating tidbits we can scare up.
