Donations still being accepted for Rogers fund

February 16, 2011

By Staff Reporter

The fund set up by the Hawthorne Fire Department in New Jersey in the aftermath of the April 12 fire that claimed three members of the Rogers family has raised about $30,000 but is still well short of the $50,000 target set by the department.

Killed in the fire were James and Deborah Rogers and their 4-year old son, Colm. Two other members of the family, Una, 9, and Aoife, 6, escaped.

Hawthorne Fire Marshal Alan Ribbe said contributions to the fund had slowed down but there ‘ a number of fund-raisers planned.

As regards the target of $50,000 he said "we are not as close as we would like and we would ask people to continue sending in their contributions."

Donations may be sent to the Rogers Family Fund, Hawthorne Fire Department, 445 Lafayette Ave., West Orange, NJ 07506.

People seeking further information on this fund may call Fire Chief Victor Tamburro at (973) 423-5550 or Ribbe at (973) 427-7544..
