Donegal 2-13
Rockland 2-5
After an exciting 60 minutes of football Sunday at Gaelic Park, Donegal’s women won their first-ever Peter Connaughton Cup final.
Both teams were a little unsettled for the first 10 minutes and after that it a fell into place, especially for the Ulster women. Mary Casey, Aisling Wheelan and Mags Dineen were at the top of their games, ensuring that their team would bring home the silverware.
Rockland tried hard, but their lack of experience up front on the day, with captain Jonnie Foley missing, spoke volumes. Still, Cathy Dunleavy, Pauline O’Connor and Jenny Kirby did well to make it a competitive affair.
Donegal player of the game: Mary Casey. Rockland: Cathy Dunleavy.
