DUBLIN — Two goals by veteran Paul Doolin saw holders Shelbourne safely through into the third round of soccer’s FAI Cup Sunday. Doolin’s first against Monaghan United came as early as the third minute and then he wrapped the game up a second 10 minutes from time.

Meanwhile, Longford Town looked to be heading for defeat when a last-minute strike by Vinny Perth earned them a 1-1 draw with Cork City. Cup specialists Shamrock Rovers were 3-0 winners over non-league Dublin Bus, and Bray Wanderers registered a comprehensive 5-0 home win over Sligo Rovers.

Bohemians, St. Patrick’s Athletic and UCD also made it through to the next stage.
