Duddy poised for 4-rounder

“I’m ready to rock and roll,” the Derry product, an impressive first-round winner in his pro debut last month, declared after winding up sparring at Gleason’s Gym last weekend.
“I have no predictions. I just want to put up a good fight and hopefully get a victory,” the 24-year-old former All-Irish amateur champion said.
Eddie McLoughlin, one of Duddy’s handlers, predicted a barnburner of a fight.
“This guy [Gomez] comes out very fast. He’s colorful and all swagger, but he can fight,” McLoughlin, who has seen the 1-1 Gomez in action, noted.
“But we’re prepared for the long haul and I’m confident that John will win. He’s had about 30 to 35 rounds of sparring and looks great.”
The first bout on tonight’s Star Boxing promoted show will be at 7:30 p.m., with Duddy not scheduled to enter the ring until after 9.
