Dunshaughlin in Leinster final

It finished 1-7 to 0-4 at Newbridge and, given that the teams had met six times previously over the past three years, it was surprising that Dunshaughlin should have won so comfortably.
It was a bad-tempered contest that culminated in the sending off of Rathnew’s Richard Dignam also had nine bookings, but the Meath side were the dominant force throughout. A goal by Ray Maloney 10 minutes into the second half put Dunshaughlin 1-7 to 0-2 in front and they had little trouble in holding out until the full time whistle as Rathnew struggled to find their usual form. With midfielders Niall Kelly and Dermot Kealy dictating the play, Dunshaughlin could afford to kick 12 wides to Rathnew
