For the fourth time in eight years, Irish Echo "Trad Beat" columnist
Earle Hitchner has been selected as a judge in the Celtic/British Isles
category of the annual Association for Independent Music (AFIM) awards.
He previously judged in 1993, 1996, and 1998.
A writer on traditional music for the Irish Echo since 1991, Earle
Hitchner has provided liner notes for nearly 40 recordings, including

the Boston Pops Orchestra’s "The Celtic Album" (RCA Victor), a Grammy
nominee for best classical crossover release of 1998.
He also writes on music for The Wall Street Journal and Dublin’s
Irish Music magazine. Other articles, reviews, and essays by him have
appeared in Reader’s Digest, Billboard, The Oxford American, Details,
New Choices, Publishers Weekly, and Rhythm Music.
