EYES ON THE PRIZE
If conflict arises in the office, try to remember the bigger goals that you are all working towards. This should help the people you work with transcend their differences, instead of picking holes in each other’s work. Inter-personal problems fester whenever a team is disunited.

ASSERTIVE, BUT NOT AGGRESSIVE
Being nice will help you avoid the worst elements of office politics, but it won’t always be enough. You have to stand up for yourself – take credit for your own achievements and negotiate hard for the things you want and need. But don’t let assertiveness topple into aggressiveness. Crossing the line will only lead to an escalation of any conflicts that already exist.
