DO YOUR JOB
Too many people labor in a post they have decided is ‘beneath them’ and make their resentment obvious. Don’t. It doesn’t matter whether you think you are destined for great things or not. If you aren’t professional and diligent in your current job, you can forget about chances of promotion.

APPEARANCE MATTERS
There is an old saying that you should dress for the job you want not the job you have. It’s still true. A smart appearance is important in creating respect and a sense of professionalism. It also implies to your bosses that you have respect for the company itself – an essential for promotion.

LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD
If you really feel you could add a lot to the company in a higher position, set a meeting with the relevant managers and tell them so. In more general terms, you might also let your bosses know about your ultimate career goals. That will at least let them know that you hope to move up through the ranks.
