Eyes On The Prize
Don’t lose sight of your long-term objectives. Let’s say you have two job offers, one that offers slightly more money and the other that offers greater opportunity for advancement. Unless you are in dire financial straits, it may be worth taking the lower paying job.

Keep Perspective
Don’t think only of the job itself; think about how it will impact on your life. If you are young, free and single you might have no problems working irregular hours as you climb the career ladder; if you have just started a family, your priorities will be different. Be honest with yourself as you evaluate how different jobs might impact on your life.

Look Beyond The Top Line
Even when it comes to evaluating jobs purely on their remuneration, remember to look beyond salary. Health benefits can obviously be hugely important. But other elements in the package a company offers, ranging from free gym memberships to, where appropriate, the payment of relocation expenses, can also have a major influence as you determine which is the right job for you.
