Dress smartly, but don’t wear something so lavish that it makes you feel uncomfortable. Try to answer the interviewers’ questions professionally, but don’t be afraid to treat them like real people, too. This doesn’t mean you should hit them with a flurry of jokes — but do let some human warmth come through. Interviewers want to get some sense of who you are as a person. Allow them to do so.
GET THE BASICS RIGHT
All your efforts in putting together your resume, writing a good cover letter and researching the company can be brought crashing down if you don’t get the basics right. One thing never to be forgotten: get a good night’s sleep before the interview. It will help you feel and look sharp. On the day, try to eat in a way that also makes you feel good rather than bloated, and avoid too much caffeine for fear of exacerbating nervousness. Allow time for mishaps or delays on the way to the interview location. Stay calm. Answer the questions asked, but play to your strengths. Get the basics right and everything else will flow.
