There has been speculation that Obama would appear before an Irish American audience when he is in New York next week for the Al Smith charitable dinner.
Forum organizer John Dearie said it appeared that the Obama campaign seemed to be downplaying expectations that Obama would speak because he was so far ahead the polls in the Empire State.
“It is, however, being impressed upon his campaign that he would be speaking to all of Irish America,” Dearie said.
Meanwhile, the Obama campaign has responded to a series of questions presented jointly by the AOH, Ladies AOH and the Irish American Unity Conference.
“We have received the answers to the questions we presented to both candidates from our membership as well as the IAUC and the LAOH in writing from Senator Obama’s campaign as promised.
“Senator McCain met with our panel face-to-face in a meeting in Scranton last month. He also answered our questions verbally but we are awaiting his answers in written form. He assured that we will have a written response to our inquiries,” said AOH past national president, Ned McGinley.
