Eircom economical with the truth

February 16, 2011

By Staff Reporter

The regulator investigated the conduct of Eircom staff after complaints from rivals, including IFA Telecom, the phone company owned by the Irish Farmers’ Association.
Staff was reported for telling customers that competitors’ prices were much higher than they actually were. ComReg, the state regulator, has ordered Eircom to provide price quotes and comparisons in writing, accurately.
Further information is available at: www.comreg.ie.
Confronted with the IFA accusation, Eircom representatives are said to have reacted “with fury” and threatened to sue.
