The man who became an international sensation with ?Riverdance? and ?Lord of the Dance,? has created a new show — and it will make its debut in the U.S. this autumn.
Flatley?s being a bit close-mouthed with the details, but the Irish Independent reports that the show will bow here in October — and that it could mark Flatley?s return to the stage. There is some conjecture that the dance superstar will perform ?selected excerpts? in the new show.
But the really big news is that the show might cause some controversy, based on its content.
?We set the bar pretty high with ?Riverdance? and ?Lord of the Dance,? ? he said. ?But I believe we can push the bar a little higher and that?s what this new show is all about. I think some people will find parts a little controversial.?
Oh, come on: more shocking than the moment in LOD when the dancers rip off their dresses off hoof it in hot pants? Apparently so. But Michael has an artistic vision, see. One that involves Celtic sprites and unicorns and painting Celtic symbols on sweaty, manly chests.
?It?s a show that I believe will make Ireland very proud,? he said.
