Flynn leads Cape parade

February 17, 2011

By Staff Reporter

Flynn, former Boston mayor, U.S. ambassador to the Vatican and now Irish Echo columnist, will head a march with the theme of “Heroes and Heroines of Ireland.”
Parade committee co-chair, John Fallon, said that organizers were “humbled and grateful” that Flynn would be in the vanguard of a parade that will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 6 in West Dennis and proceed to the Cape Code Irish Village Motel in West Yarmouth.
Flynn, a former grand marshal of New York St. Patrick’s Day Parade, was chosen in part for his years of work for peace in Northern Ireland and in particular for his role in the MacBride Principles campaign.
