Michael Foley, the fired Aer Lingus chief, has said he will sue the airline after his contract was ended almost a year ago.
Foley was dismissed only months after he was headhunted by Aer Lingus from the U.S., after it emerged that there were charges of sexual harassment leveled against him by two female Aer Lingus staffers.
Foley returned to the U.S. after his dismissal, and revealed last week that he will sue the airline in the High Court.
“I am shocked and disturbed by the decisions of Aer Lingus today,” Foley said on the day he was dismissed. “I reiterate my total innocence of the allegations made against me and will take all necessary steps to clear my good name.”
Joan Loughran and Anne Lawlor both accused Foley of sexual harrassment.
“I can confirm that we have received a letter from solicitors representing Michael Foley,” an Aer Lingus spokesman told reporters. “We have passed that letter to our own legal advisers.”
