Foreign minister, at UN, cites progress in peace process

Delivering Ireland’s annual address to the assembly, Cowen also outlined Ireland’s view on the mounting crisis over Saddam Hussein and Iraq in stating that if Iraq’s defiance of the UN Security Council continued, then the council, of which Ireland is currently a rotating member, “must face its responsibilities.”
On the North, Cowen told the assembly that the political institutions of the Good Friday were operating on a “positive and inclusive basis, bringing tangible benefits across the board.
