Friars’ Kelly captures IC4A 10,000 meters

Fresh off his victory in the Big East Championships, Providence’s Keith Kelly duplicated the feat in the IC4A men’s 10,000 meter run in Fairfax, Va.

Kelly, a junior from Drogheda, scored the Friars’ only points of the meet with his facile triumph. He broke the tape in 29 minutes, 38.39 seconds.

Iona’s Vinny Mulvey, a sophomore from Ashbourne, Co. Meath, took second place. The third finisher didn’t show up for another 27 seconds.

Princeton’s Hugh Kennedy, a junior from Dublin, finished ninth in the men’s hammer throw. Kennedy’s best throw traveled 53.76 meters. Virginia Tech’s Erick Kingston was the winner, sending the implement 65.10 meters.

Georgetown won the team trophy with 103 points. Liberty University was second with 72.
