By Staff Reporter

The Friends of Timothy Mooney group will host a benefit fund-raiser on Thursday, Aug. 6, from 5-9 p.m. at St. Hedwig’s Church, Myrtle Street, Elizabeth, N.J. Tickets are $10.

Timothy Mooney was diagnosed as an infant with arthrogryposis, a rare disease of the joints and muscles. Since his diagnosis, he has had to undergo many surgeries and treatments for ambulatory problems, respiratory problems, bowel, gastrointestinal problems, an enlarged heart, a heart murmur and a partially blocked lung. Currently, due to his non-functioning diaphram, he sleeps at night connected to a breathing apparatus, monitored by a nurse. Recently, his condition worsened.

Timothy is the son of Colleen McEntee Mooney and J. Todd Mooney, a 14-year veteran of the Elizabeth Police Department. Donations and ticket requests may be sent to Friends of Timothy Mooney, c/o Larry Smith, 330 West Jersey St., Apt.10H, Elizabeth, NJ 07202. Phone inquiries may be directed to Sgt. Brennan or Sgt. Dugan at (908) 527-7821.
