Galen changes its name

February 16, 2011

By Staff Reporter

Galen is headquartered in Craigavon, Co. Armagh, but sells mainly to the U.S., will now be called Warner Chilcott, reflecting what a spokesperson for the company called “creating a unified trade name and unified identity.”
Chairman John King said: “I am saddened to lose the Galen name but the job of the directors is to create value. We have lost Europe and Warner Chilcott is the more recognizable brand in the U.S.”
Shareholders approved the name change and the ticker symbol will change to WCRX on the London stock exchange and New York’s Nasdaq on Monday. However, it will remain FQ4 on the Dublin stock market, according to the New York Times.
