A study published in the Lancet journal said that hormone-replacement therapy could lead to side effects such as increased risk of breast cancer and stroke.
HRT is an important part of Galen’s business, although the company also sells contraceptives and drugs for skin disease.
Although Galen shares fell 5.8 percent in London, some analysts said that the Lancet article offered no new evidence, and that the drop should be looked at as an ideal time to buy.
