Having knocked out champions Mayo in the first round, Galway will be firm favorites to overcome Leitrim in the Connacht football semifinal at Carrick-on-Shannon on Sunday.
And in Ulster, Down, who conquered Tyrone in the first round, should be too strong for Armagh in Clones.
In Leinster, hurling it’s looking very much like another Kilkenny-Wexford final. On Sunday, Wexford play Offaly, who had an easy first round win over Meath, and Kilkenny, who hammered Dublin, should be too strong for Laois in a doubleheader at Croke Park. D.J. Carey, who injured his hamstring against Dublin, is expected to line out.
Meanwhile, with defeat in the championship come the resignations. Amazingly none have gone so far, but Eamon Cregan, who was disappointed with Limerick’s defeat by Cork, may quit after just one season in charge of his native county.
“After 40 years in the game, maybe it’s time to make a break and to take up other pursuits,” he said.

In Wicklow, Niall Rennick was unhappy with the County Board, who he claims are putting club before county. And John Maughan is reconsidering his position in Mayo following their first-round loss to Galway.
